If you're at all curious about my background, here's what you need to know.
My life in
three paragraphs.
I grew up in Eagle River, Alaska. From an early age I enjoyed drawing and writing stories. These interests continued throughout high school, and during the last semester of my senior year, I enrolled in an art and design class at a local vocational school. The class was great, and it was the first time my eyes were opened to the world of graphic design.
I wanted to go to college and earn a degree in graphic design but after searching through many private art schools I realized that I couldn't afford it. I turned to my second favorite subject for a solution and decided to enroll in the journalism school at the University of Nevada Reno. I had always been a decent writer and I still enjoy writing fiction to this day, but after a year at UNR I realized that journalism wasn't for me. That is when I discovered the Graphic Communications program at Truckee Meadows Community College, and the very next fall I was charging headlong into the world of graphic arts.
The program has been great and I feel that I have learned the skills needed to be a success in the design world. I have had the benefit of two separate internships in the field, one at a local PBS affiliate and another that took me all the way to Liverpool, England. Now that I've earned my Associates degree in Graphic Communications I'm ready to enter the "real world" and establish a career.
